Gibb Gilchrist (1887-1972) was an engineer whose career encompassed the Texas State Highway Department and the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Under his administration, the TSHD was reorganized and the Texas highway system made rapid growth. He was appointed Dean of Engineering at the AMC of Texas in 1937, and was appointed President in 1944.
